Pioneer Square Flower Festival in Portland

Filed under: photographs — Christine at 7:26 pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Today was one of those absolutely perfect days that Portland offers up like a precious jewel. Eighty degrees, no humidity, a light breeze, blue sky, and flowers blooming everywhere we looked. I had the rare good fortune of walking downtown with my two teen-aged sons (rare because they would so much rather be with their friends before the jobs and vacations of summer begin).

We turned the corner and came upon a Flower Festival at Pioneer Square, fondly known as “Portland’s Living Room.” There were gigantic pods of brightly-colored flowers scattered around the brick-lined square. It was so beautiful — like a visual perfumer’s palette in supersized 3-D.

The boys yielded and gave me about 3 minutes to take pictures (maybe 4 minutes), so here’s what I got:

Dear Christine,
I love the new look of the Perfume B. Your photos are just exquisite. It looks like a lavender background.
I , also, am interested in your new natural focus. It will be interesting for me to learn more about these scents. I guess this goes hand in hand with your nutrition background.
Are you still wearing your older ” synthetic scents “?
Best natural Scented Regards,
Madelyn E

Hi Madelyn,

It is so good to hear from you! I’m glad you like the new look — and you’re right, the natural focus does go hand-in-hand with my nutrition background. I believe the healthy food we put into our bodies should be complemented by the healthy things we spray onto our bodies.

I am not wearing my synthetic scents now. At first, I went through something of a grieiving process about what I felt I was giving up. But now that I am finding so many beautiful natural perfumes to test and fall in love with, the sadness has been replaced with a mixture of relief and delight.

Chris
